A perfect example is the We Believe year and even this past season's playoff run for the Golden State Warriors. Regardless of what color the fans were wearing, Oracle would've been rocking but I honestly believe the noise dial in The O was pushed up a notch or three by those yellow shirts. It's just something about a sold-out crowd wearing the same color that makes people feel like they are all in it together.
As Will Ferrell said once, "it gets the people going."
In that respect, I have always wanted the fan base Memorial Stadium to adopt something like this and it looks like Cal athletics is attempting again to make it happen for the Ohio State game next week. While I love the effort, the effort is going to fail.
Flashback to 2009 when Cal pushed for Memorial to "Blue Out" the stadium against Maryland. A handful of people received the message but the rest didn't even realize there was a "Blue Out" in the first place. Unfortunately, unless Cal itself is willing to pass out free t-shirts to make the graphic below happen, Cal fans (and really this is a symptom of California fans in general) are too independent to conform to a color scheme.

I'd be shocked if Memorial Stadium actually looked like this come September 14. (Cal athletics) |
If Cal fans can't even agree to all wear blue (the school's dominant color) how does the athletic department actually expect Cal fans to wear alternate yellow and blue?
GO BEARS!
